Enchanting Marrakech as a travel destination
This summer we chose Marrakech in Morocco as our travel destination. Marrakech and especially the old town part Medina is very authentic in its feel, buildings, food and even the cool people. Cars are in the minority in traffic, which wouldn't even fit on the streets of the old town. Instead, pedestrians have to dodge under fully loaded bicycles, donkeys and scooters.

There are plenty of people on the narrow streets during the day, mosques give the day a rhythm with their calls to prayer, and local men and women are busy doing their jobs in their shops and on the streets.
The bazaars offer such a huge variety of beautifully painted earthenware, beautifully patterned interior textiles in bright colors, paintings, jewelry and exotic spices. Be prepared to haggle, trading in the bazaars involves haggling, and buying is an event in itself. It is worth going to Marrakech with a half-empty suitcase, and leaving room for souvenirs at home. Among the beauty products, it is worth buying Argan oil, which is also called Moroccan gold due to its nourishing properties.
The sun rises early in Morocco, by noon it is already too strong to shoot, and in the evening the sun is absolutely magically beautiful and soft – the African sun! It had been raining for the previous two weeks, so we arrived just in time, the sun had appeared in the sky as if on command. Our shooting day was long and efficient!
The film crew and I stayed in a beautiful local Riad, a three-story Moroccan villa, where we filmed.
It was wonderfully cool to shoot in light summer clothes made from natural materials when it was +30 degrees outside. Remember that Morocco is a Muslim country, and especially outside the larger cities it is advisable to cover your shoulders and knees. Our light tencelmix capris, shawls, and HUKATON kimono were wonderful as travel clothes.
