Voglia and Puronen are manufacturing protective clothing for the Covid-19 pandemic

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a surge in demand for protective equipment and clothing for healthcare around the world. There is also a shortage of products in Finland. The Kanta-Häme healthcare district is looking for solutions from local production and local operators. Finnish fashion brand Voglia and healthcare workwear manufacturer Puro Design have taken up the challenge and are starting to produce protective coats and headgear together.

Voglia Yhtiöt Oy owns part of Puro Design Oy, and the companies have close cooperation. Puro nen products are manufactured at Voglia's Viljandi factory in Estonia; the companies also share IT and logistics functions. With the help of a common infrastructure and established operating models, the protective equipment project was quickly launched. The products have already been designed and the fabrics have been ordered from a European manufacturer - the first batch of protective clothing will be sewn during April.
Coats and caps customized for the needs of corona care are made from a fabric suitable for the purpose, which can withstand institutional washing and is therefore a more responsible alternative to disposable materials.
"In times of crisis in society, ethical and ecological choices are highlighted and their importance is irreplaceable. Voglia's local production in Estonia enables agile and rapid support for Finnish healthcare during the state of emergency," says Matti Huhtinen, CEO of Puro Design.
"It's great that we have the opportunity to be useful and that our actions can contribute to overcoming difficult times. Stay strong and a big salute to the entire nursing staff," continues Kristiina Virtanen, Human Resources and Quality Director at Voglia.
Voglia is a Finnish fashion house and family company founded in 1983, whose products are responsible, high-quality and timeless. 81% of Voglia's clothing is manufactured in the company's own factories in Estonia. Puro Design has been operating since 2009, producing workwear for healthcare. Functionality and sustainable materials are emphasized in the design and manufacture of Puronen products .
